GBB: More Geer

E-mail Print PDF

basketballHello,

As you may have heard, Tony Geer died earlier this week in his sleep, and was well known for his ability to network people in basketball, media and other facets he had experience in. I posted a short editorial recapping moments he and I shared and I encourage others to do the same if possible.

Thank you for your time. I wish I had better news to share.

Obituary: Tony Geer

E-mail Print PDF

basketballTony Geer, a media maven, passed away this week. Geer was an active member of the media community working with a variety of organizations covering all sorts of sports.

Geer & I went back to the late 1980s when I was at Minneapolis South and he was doing community television in Minneapolis. I would help out on the productions on the weekly show. Geer started coaching with City of Lakes and eventually was coaching an AAU team in NW Iowa in the early 1990s. On his return to the metro area Geer got involved again on the media side of things. He was a fixture at many state tournaments. He helped in career development of Steven's Sport Report, Alex Nagle and Mike Peden to name of few.

I talked to him last week about a few basketball items, but he was too tired to get out & about.

No details on services yet.
