MN HS VB AA: 4 Ranked Teams Sweep

volleyball #1 Marshall swept Alexandria. Top-ranked Tigers open up with win on road----Marshall Independent. Jessica Baker had 11 points for Marshall. Samm Trumm had 9 points for Alex.

#2 Hutchinson swept Mankato West. Tigers win season opener 3-0------PrepsPlus. Sara Carlson had 8 points for Hutchinson.

#6 Hibbing beat Virginia in four.

#8 Belle Plaine swept Watertown-Mayer

#8 Delano swept #4A Mayer Lutheran.

BOLD starts season with sweep of RCW-----West Central Tribune. Tyann Caspers had 16 points for BOLD. Taylor Sharpe had 7 points for RCW. (plus two more reports)

#2 Wayzata beat #6 Apple Valley in four. I did an out & about on this game last night. Tomi Okuyemi had 21.5 points for the Trojans. Melissa Racz had 15 points for the Eagles.

VB Out & About: Wayzata/Apple Valley

WAYZATA trojans 3, APPLE VALLEY eagles 1
(25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 25-15)

#2AAA Wayzata spoiled the Gordy Hagert's head coaching debut for #6AAA Apple Valley in a four set match. Last year's AAA Runner up got off to a fast start in the first set and held on, rallied in the second set from a 4 point deficit, and used a 12 point run in the fourth in getting their victory. The Trojans outearned the Eagles 68-54. Wayzata's Junior MH Toni Okuyemi had 18 kills and 21.5 points to lead all players. Both squads had three players that reached double digit points.
