Amy Braun (Lakeville North) had 9 point for UNI. Tabi Love had 24 points for the Gophers. Lauren Gibbemeyer (Cretin-Derham Hall) had 18 points, Ashley Wittman (Shakopee) 14.5, Tori Dixon (Burnsville) 11 for MN. Jessica Granquist (Blaine) had 33 digs for MN.
Minnesota Wins Diet Coke Classic
-----Minnesota. Ashley Wittman (Shakopee) had 18.5 points for the Gophers. Katherine Harms (St. Michael-Albertville) added 10.5 points. Jessica Granquist (Blaine) had 28 digs for MN.

Illini claim Texas Tournament title-----Illinois. Erin Johnson had 13 points for Illinois.

(Very) Late IU Rally Results in 16-14 Fifth-Set Victory-----Indiana. Jordan Haverly had 21.5 points for Indiana.

MN HS VB: Morken Wins #400 & MC Tourney

volleyballEDEN PRAIRIE TOURNAMENT

#8AAA Bloomington Jefferson beat #4AAA host Eden Prairie in three to win the tournament. I did an out & about on this and the BJ semifinal win over Waconia in three last night. In pool play Jefferson beat Chanhassen in two; and North St. Paul in three.

I also did the out & about on the other semifinal where Eden Prairie beat Hill-Murray in three. EP beat Perham in three and Mounds View in two.

MABEL-CANTON TOURNAMENT

#8A Mabel-Canton won their own tournament beating Rushford-Peterson in three. MC advanced to the finals with pool play wins over Southland, Brainerd, Rushford-Peterson, Alma, Spring Grove and Houston----two & out.

BLOOMINGTON JEFFERSON jaguars 2, EDEN PRAIRIE eagles 1
(17-25, 25-10, 16-14)

#8AAA Bloomington Jefferson ended #4AAA Eden Prairie's three year championship run of their own tournament with a three set win. BJ needed to take the final two sets and did. The Jaguars trailed 4-0 in the second set, but came up with four runs and earned 21 points while EP was only able to earn 7. In the deciding contest BJ ran off seven straight points, six on Megan Scherber's serve,  to lead 10-4. As in the previous contest, missed serves haunted Jefferson. BLOOMINGTON JEFFERSON jaguars 2, WACONIA wildcats 1
(25-18, 24-26, 15-13)

#7AAA Jefferson edged out Waconia in three sets to advance to the finals of the Eden Prairie Tournament. BJ was on their way to a two set win when they led 23-19 in the second set, but the Wildcats held off one set point and finished with a 7-1 run to tie the series at one apiece. Of those 7 points two were missed BJ serves and four were on hitting errors. Chandra Honebrink finished off the Jags in that set with a kill. #4AAA Eden Prairie advanced to the championship game of their own tournament by taking the last two sets. All three sets were determined by early runs.
